I took this photo (originally shown in this post) at Washington Square Park, on one of our nice long walks while in New York.
This isn’t how it looked when it first came out of the camera though.
The SOOC (straight-out-of-camera) shot looked like this:
It was a beautiful, if not arguably too hot, day in the city. People were shedding their winter attire and letting the sunlight begin to break down the barrier of pale that had masked their skin. Myself included.
The photo turned out nice, but didn’t quite reach the bright and cheery, yet gritty, mood of the day.
The first thing I did was run the “Texture Applicator” action from MCP Actions, and removed the texture from that large grouping of buds in the forefront. Then I lowered the opacity of the layer just a bit. I love the blooms now set against that gritty texture.
But sometimes I just like to have a little drama in my life, and this was one of those days.
So I used the “Touch of Light, Touch of Darkness” action, cropped the photo a tad, and informed my husband that I’ll be having more of his babies at the earliest possible convenience. And then my daughter began licking her hands while simultaneously undressing and I reneged.
Voila! Drama.
I miss you, New York.

Beautiful! I don’t take photographs often, so I don’t much about techniques and all. However, I just wanted you to know that God certainly has blessed you with an amazing gift! You never disappoint with your pictures, they are stunning. 🙂
