So… I like beginning posts with so. It sounds good and wholesome, like we’ve picked up from a conversation we had previously started and were just interrupted for a few moments by a screaming little, or a poopy diaper or you know, a few days. It feels like we really are good friends and we’re holding are own little tête-à-têtes about life and love while we’re balancing kids, dinner, work, finances and THE UNIVERSE. And I like good conversations, I mean tête-à-têtes, with friends.
Okay, tangent over.
So… I had been photographically charting the growth of my sweet little each month in the coziness of his fluffy white rocking chair with the small stuffed giraffe his big sister gifted him, after we changed out the pink to match his bedding we designed. And though he still grabs a book each night and marches his way to the rocking chair, pointing up to the luxury of pillows billowing over and looking up at me with his big blue moons, sometimes matching the deep indigo of the sky and sometimes mirroring the dark silver of the crescent outside his window… he’s also finding his independence that lies in spanning the carpet of his room and the wooden stage of our halls.
Recently, I took this photo of him and decided it would be the perfect stomping grounds for this next year’s production of the Month-by-Month photos.
A little more kid-sized giraffe in lieu of the sweet little stuffed one still laying in the crook of the rocker. A little more space to feed his ever growing cravings for sit-stand-walk, turn around-sit-stand-walk… A little more him, now.
Let me introduce you to the rest of the equally swoon-worthy cast of characters…
The still-chunky, but walking baby legs and scrunch nosed smiles.
Round blue liquid center eyes and milky lips.
A soft, bed-headed mess of crazed sugar locks.
I think those curly tendrils are shaping up to be a great scene-stealer.
Today, these photos are saying so much more than my words can, my plate is full, my heart is happy and my head is swimming… I’m just enjoying the scenery and staying true to today’s quiet overture. And I’m okay with that.
The first year’s Month-by-Month:
You can read more about each month here.
And maybe today you’ll all be the talkative ones in this conversation. I’d love to hear what you’ve done to chronicle the growth of your littles. Feel free to talk and share links!

I only DREAM of being as organized and consistent as you are in taking photos of my kids. I get pictures here and there, keep a drawing here and there, as so on, but I don’t have any consistent plan to keep snapshots of life.
But then again, that’s kind of how life happens, isn’t it? Our memories aren’t systematic, but we remember pieces. Usually the significant stuff, but also often just random moments.
I do envy your creativity and consistency, though!

I love this… and if I had even thought of something this cute – or even just taking a photo in the same place/position each month I would have been excited. Too bad I only saw your blog when my little one was 6 months old. Next time.
