The Calm After the Storm

If everything goes as planned, by Monday afternoon my house looks a little less birthday party with 25 kids over the weekend and shows off it’s more polished side with shiny floors, clean dishes and the glorious scents of autumn wrapping their way around each twist and turn of our halls.  Monday mornings in my house? My house is scared because it meets The Cleaning Side of Tabitha. Yes, it’s a title all on it’s own. In capital letters.

So, now these four walls that we call home and everything in between has been spit shined and polished, and by everything I mean almost… if my pile of laundry would vanish I think I’d be in heaven, the kids are bathed and napping and I’m going to finally grab a bite to eat before a photoshoot and a houseful of friends tonight.

But the storm of the weekend hasn’t completely vanished. I’m left with beautiful remnants of a tapestry that’s weaved it’s way into our hearts and memories forever. The calm of the morning let me sweep up the dust and the last bits of feathers floating around from a party full of bunnies and dress up, but because of magnificent friends, we’ll be able to look back on my daughter’s 4th birthday for years to come.  And you can bet there will more on that later. Much more.

This weekend finalized summer for me and sent me over into sheer excitement for fall with the holidays right on it’s heels. I’ll be the first to admit that I get a little crazy over the cheer of the holidays, and for now, I’ll be admiring my Christmas rock-star.
