“So often we dwell on the things that seem impossible rather than on the things that are possible. So often we are depressed by what remains to be done and forget to be thankful for all that has been done.”
~Marian Wright Edelman
This week has been a lesson in the art of walking the fine line between playing catch up and letting go. Of exhaling and slowing when I can feel it’s needed, and rallying to find a quicker pace when the setting calls for it. Of learning when it’s good for our family to say yes, and the times we need to say no.
So as we’re settling into this beautiful calm to be content just to be and fully embrace and enjoy this holiday season, we’ve excitedly said yes to opening our arms, and our home, to family in from Michigan. To walks through the park and the forest to collect pine cones for our fall table decor. To late nights where play and laughter echo into the night hours and sleep spills over a little longer into the morning. To evenings on the beach where the wind is high and my Florida kids stay wrapped in extra sweatshirts and towels while they’re northern relatives explore the coastline.
A little extra turkey and stuffing tomorrow? A definite yes. An extra slice of pie? That’ll be a no, at least that will be my first answer.
As the sun sets on this day and rises on the next, I’m grateful for a house full of sleeping cousins that will wake up with smiles ready for another day of lovin’ on each other. I’m so thankful for life and love, for friendship and community… and I’m thankful for you.
Napkins are folded and waiting in their place, the counters are full with food ready to make the house smell delicious as it cooks and serving dishes are awaiting their purpose. We are ready. Ready to live and love some more and dive deep into the waters of thankfulness.
Friends, enjoy your tomorrow, dwell on the beauty of possibility.

The sun is just starting to break through some morning clouds, and I’m ready for a lazy day (our feast is scheduled for tomorrow…so the young marrieds can spend a day with each family). I’m thankful that the blogosphere led me to you! Enjoy your family time!
