Sunday Citar~ Forever

“Forever – is composed of Nows” ~Emily Dickenson

So, I ventured out into the city with the pitter patter of soft rain droplets creating a melodic rhythm atop the smooth black canvas covering my head.  With every honk of a yellow cab’s horn, coming at the perfect beat between the clippety-clop of the classic fast paced New Yorker footsteps around me, the sound all harmonized for a high energy soundtrack.  And I felt like I totally fit right in, a chameleon taking on the look, the gate, the feel of the city.  That is until I realized I was literally smiling as I walked, entranced by the cadence playing around me.  And also? That my umbrella had a big white sign that read TOURIST on it… or maybe it was just a hotel logo, but it’s pretty much one and the same.  The ironic thing is that the umbrella is from a completely different hotel from a completely different city and I just happened to find it in my suitcase… oops.

I then realized that this moment is just one of my many Nows… nows that are making up my forever.  Each is falling into a pattern, some with soft beautiful strokes and some with high-pitched tones where we realize we’re walking around with a crazy touristy smile… but all working together to compose our forever soundtrack.

… And today, I’m envisioning beautiful littles in their church outfits, a color spectrum of pastels and cute little orbs next to piles of candy.  As we celebrate the amazing sacrifice that was made for us in the presence of those we love, even if it is with loved friends because we’re miles from home, I’m wishing you a very happy Easter, a very happy Resurrection Day.
