“A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.”
~Irish Proverb
The cool thing about having days where you spend the day making a feast fit for kings, or a load of family members, from scratch or laundry-catch-up and playin’-with-dolls days is that you don’t feel so bad when you have days where you make best friends with the layers of sheets in your hotel bed and get on a first name basis with pillows of fluffy feathers. That’s exactly where Brayden and I have been for the last two days, aside from the work I’ve been doing every day, his sleepy body is sidled up next to mine as I whisper that it’s okay to stay in bed just a little bit longer and he smiles as we both drift our way back into sweet dreams. Maybe it’s the toll that all the travel is taking on our bodies (I’ve been home eight days in the last month), or the drizzly, gray setting that Los Angeles has so graciously provided, but I think the blending of the two has produced a pretty strong concoction… I had to rally to get up when I needed to and couldn’t keep my eyes open for much else, literally.
But now, I’m starting to feel the rejuvenating effects that sweet elixir of sleep can bring. A best cure it is.
And that, my friends, is the beauty of Balance. Enjoying the beautiful chaos we have going on right now just as much as the quiet rhythms of slumber. It’s all about what you make of it, life that is. And I’m going to make the rest of this year completely beautiful… and stay awake for it too. At least that’s what I tell myself.

I’m joining in for the 1st time. What a dreamy photo of your young babe. It’s wonderful that you’ve allowed yourself to leisurely slumber next to him the last 2 days. After reading your post, I feel a tinge of regret at not having appreciated these moments with my 2 boys. It was only when my youngest son started to reject nap time that I began to allow myself to slow down and just watch him fall asleep in my arms without thinking about all the things that I needed to get done. Great post.

Sweet photo and a great description. I’m not even sleepy and I want to go curl up in a blanket for a while. I’m with you … making the rest of this year completely beautiful is perfect!
