The house has fallen quiet, the room illuminated with the glow of the tree still up and a flickering candle filling the house with it’s warm and cozy scent. I’m afraid we have officially become THAT HO– USE on the block, the one all the neighbors, with their own tattered trees laid to rest at the curb, secretly love as they roll their eyes while driving past at night, the one with the tree lit up in the window and the lights still singing their full-on Christmas chorus from the rooftop. I’m slowly easing into the new year with the remnants of the last overlapping, and yet, I feel the creative energy pulsing underneath. The kind of energy that breeds change.
Chris and I gave ourselves the Christmas present of remodeling our bathroom come the new year. ย And by remodeling, I mean paint the walls and change the vanity. ย So today, with Aliyah spending the day at her papa and nana’s house, I wrapped up my littlest and took my creative energy on a day-long errand-running date. See-sawing from the more mundane stop by the bank and run through the grocery store to the more exciting inhale every delicious corner of Ikea for ideas to reinvent our space to get that creative storm a’brewin.
I don’t know if it was the happy day spent exchanging glances between just my baby boy and I or the colorful displays covering every crevice of that crazy place… but today, I could hear the whirlwind coming. Seriously.
Maybe it has more to do with time spent bonding with one of my littles than the promise of ditching the gold faucet, and that’s what I’m leaning towards. It sparks something in me. Inspiration.
I think a date with the big sister is in my future.

oh how i love ikea! feeling a little envious at your little trip ;).
when we lived in seattle, ikea was only 25 minutes away, but the closest one in cleveland is 2.5 hours away :(.
and one on one time with each of the kiddos can definitely be refreshing and much needed sometimes.

I have never been to Ikea. Seriously. Everyone keeps telling me how wonderful it is. But I am afraid if I go I would spent thousands of dollars. hehe ๐

Looks like you both had a fun trip!
I really enjoy going to Ikea but it’s a dangerous place for our bank account. ๐ When my husband and I were in Sweden this past year, I realized why I love Ikea so much – I love Swedish interior design. If only…

Ahhh, a great trip to IKEA. I was just there last week and actually plan to go there again tomorrow. Such a great place to grab ideas and help organize my home… I loved bringing my sons with last week, but I am still looking forward to going on my own tomorrow… More expedits are in my future :)!

I want one of those, too – the cutie in the cart!
And hey, Tab? That is one seriously big bad-a purse. Do you fall over when you pick it up?
As to Ikea – a tad bit jealous you have one within driving distance!
As to remodeling – oh, girl, I do feel your pain. We are SO there.

Ikea is such a fun place to visit. SO easy to get lost in and then so hard to get out of. Looks like a nice bonding day.
