Nine Years.

It’s been nine years of raising a glass to each other in honor of more years, more love, more laughter and the inevitable more tears, that when shed seem to bond the heart even more.

We weren’t together for our anniversary this weekend, but we weren’t going to allow the 1100 miles between my hotel in the Big Apple and our home snuggled cozily along the Gulf Coast stop us from commemorating the occasion with each other. And since I’m held up all day long while here in the city, it just wasn’t practical for him to fly out… although he was nearly en route when we decided I’d hardly see him and when I did, I’d most likely be asleep. So, the night of our anniversary, when I walked into my room with the celebratory dark chocolate mousse cake, I found a surprise package waiting for me. We cozied up in bed, with chocolate, candlelight, my prezzie and toasted each other for the amazing years we’re happy to call our own… via Skype. It was perfect.

And my gift? A beautiful slice of silver to wear on my wrist with the engraved quote, “Love is not finding someone you can live with, it’s finding someone you can’t live without.”
