The temperature on our thermostat has been rollercoastering from comfortable-for-January-in-the-north highs to chilling-our-bones lows. And likewise, our activity is like a mirror, perfectly paralleling itself to the weather’s shifty mood swings.
Our days seems to begin with a rush of clean out and purge mode, riding high on the tide and then promptly decrescendos into the deep white foam as our energy fades, where we sit in a relaxing stupor as puzzles are spread on the floor beneath our feet and toys are strewn throughout the living room. So in the afternoons while I’m carrying out bags of not-been-worn-in-a-year clothes from our closets, I’m tripping over Rapunzle Barbie and a stuffed dog. But you know what?
It’s all good.
I’m loving right now. Loving the moments at home, loving the fact that I’m blessed with work… and there will be lots of it coming up in the very near future, promising more travel in the days ahead. Maybe not so much loving the busyness it brings, but it’s still all good.
And now, because I’ve got to cross something of my cumpulsory list today, and yet my words are beginning to fail me, I’ll give ya’ll a quick 10 things I’m loving right now post. Mostly in photos, because really, they speak so much clearer than words.
Hats
Placed on one of my favorite little heads, big hats, little hats, fluffy hats, sleek Rat Pack hats… it all becomes one giant adorable game of ON and OFF.
The Bookstore
One of my favorite jaunts made especially special with a good friend and my baby, a nice hot cup of chai to warm the chill that settled into my bones on the way in, and the clock blindly ticking away two hours before we even noticed.
Chores Turned Games
There’s nothing like breaking up the monotony of laundry sorting, folding and putting away, like a thrill ride through the hallways.
I just love his face turning from wonder to excitement as he totally trusts his big sis.
Christmas Remnants
Although the next big Holiday is just round’ the bend and my mind is already wandering through the crafty side of my brain… looking for heart things, for pink things, for sparkly little love things. That and a big birthday celebration that is in the works. Good things are coming.
Dress Up
For hours and hours, this girl could go on in her own little princess world. And she does, with pauses to show off her newest creation of feathers and sparkles, silk and tulle, tiaras and bows.
Edward and Jacob
Our newest additions to the family, entertaining us with their combined eight pounds of energy.
Their Interaction
She mothers. He trusts. She loves. He loves back. She squeals. He cries. It’s every bit as rambunctious and lovely as it sounds.
Playdates
Where the most commotion comes in the form of two tired little babies vying for place near the little people barn and their mama’s attention. Where the older kids get along almost without intervention. Where baked apples are a must for an afternoon snack.
And where Snack Time is easy and cute.
And okay, so maybe that’s nine things, and maybe my math’s a little off. But that doesn’t mean there’s any less lovin’ going on around here than to the tune of a perfect 10.
So keep loving all the precious little things around you. We certainly will be. Along with the big things… because sometimes they turn out to be one and the same.
Happy First Friday of the YEAR!

Your list is totally perfect. Hats are great — I made 9 of them for Christmas gifts. And the bookstore — I’m sitting at Barnes and Noble right this second. Love it! Your cute snacks are awesome. And the sweetie pies in your house, both 2-legged and 4-legged, are wonderful! You are a very fortunate Fresh Mommy!!!

As usual, your children are adorable! Way to fight off the winter doldrums! It’s not easy to do in Mid-michigan! We love forts and fires in the fireplace and hot chocolate right now.
