This morning I crawled out of bed while the sky was still melted into deep folds of dark chocolate, at least that’s what my oldest called the sky last night. Chocolate. And I could’ve used some this morning, chocolate that is, because I woke up sleepy after our big, busy day yesterday, which included the first taste of ballet for my girl… just enough to wet her appetite, and also a bout of working late into the night. So after I avoided any kind of mocha decadence from my kitchen and instead splashed cold water on my face, I whispered awake my sleeping girl from under the think cover of my big bed, a place she crawled into just a couple of hours prior. She was excited, though her body still moved in slow rhythm with half open eyes. It was the first day of what we have donned “school.” She is just under the age mark for kindergarden here in Florida, but we found a great place for learning a couple of half-days a week. Today? It’s lingual Spanish and culture… and teaching mama what growing up way to fast means.
