A Sweet and Sparkly Celebration // Mint + Gold Baby Shower

Just recently, and even more importantly, wedged happily into the calendar right before baby boy made his arrival was a sweet and sparkly shower with intimate friends thrown by my best girls. It was beautiful and stylish, full of delicious food, good laughs and colors from some of my favorite pallets of mint and metals… and of course, I was delighted in the celebration over my little one.

I recently teamed up with my friend Marina to put on a simple, elegant and budget friendly baby shower for Tabitha and baby Skylar. We started our planning by deciding on the color scheme; Tabitha is fond of mixed metals, whites, burlap and mint so we decided to carry that throughout the shower details. Our next step was to find a location. Most of the time we have our parties at Tabitha’s house, but this time we were looking to change things up. Both Marina and I scouted out multiple locations, and taking our budget in consideration we decided on Besa Grill, which offered a private dining room, they were ok with us decorating it to the nines, they were ok with us bringing outside dessert and they didn’t have a spending requirement for guests. Plus, it was cute! We honestly couldn’t have asked for more.

Here is a little round-up of all the fun simple pieces we created to make the décor as special as the day: One of the first things I found were the little planter kits we used for the favors. I found these little cuties in the $1 bin at Target. Needless to say I was thrilled with the price and loved that it was something that represented life and growth. Because the planters were a terracotta color, I bought gold and mint paint and got to work. I first painted all of the pots with two coats of mint. Once they dried I dipped them into a bowl of the gold paint. To finish off the project I bought gold filler and taped it all around the seed packs and created my own planting direction printables and attached them to sucker sticks. I was really happy with how they came out. Tabitha’s mom found the cute little mint poka-dot boxes at the dollar store. We filled those with Reeses and Snickers, Tabitha’s favorite candies, for another little party favor. I found the gold chargers at Michaels for $1.99 a piece. Not only did they go with our theme but we can use them for any dinner parties or girls night-ins we plan in the future. The wood S was found at a garage sale and I painted it with left over gold paint from our favor project.

While Tabitha’s mom was visiting we put her to work. She did a fantastic job making the four big poms and two little poms we hung from the ceiling and garland. I ordered the mint circle garland from a shop on Etsy for $15 (sorry, the shop isn’t open now) and I found the mint chevron straws on sale for $2.50. Our yummy cupcakes were from Sugar Darlings, they made us a delicious mix of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with mint colored frosting and gold salt flakes on top.

Marina created the awesome tablecloth. She cut a piece of burlap and stenciled on a chevron print with white paint. This was one of my favorite details, it was simple but it brought so much to the table. We used Marina’s collection of mint bottles for our gorgeous array of white flowers and scattered my gold and silver candleholders around the table to add a little ambiance. Keeping to our budget I designed the custom printables myself and printed them at home. I was sure to incorporate simple elegance and shades of gold and mint to tie them into the rest of the décor. Instead of games we opted to have the guests write out their advice for Tabitha on little cards and their wishes for Skylar on cute pieces of triangle fabric. All of the advice was safely stored in a gold box I painted for Tabitha, and the wish fabric will be made into bunting to hang over Skylar’s crib. All in all it was a fantastic night where we were able to get together and celebrate baby Skylar and bless the socks off his beautiful momma.

And bless my socks off they did! I think it’s safe to say that I tend to get a little excited when opening presents.
