A Quick Post

… because it’s been busy around here this week.

When I was younger, and my brother was still small enough and naive enough to let me boss him around, I would plan elaborate dinner parties for my family.  You know, as elaborate as PB&J sandwhiches and scrambled eggs can get. And then, when I was old enough to cook things like spaghetti or pancakes… watch out!  The chef has entered the building.

I’d set the stage with music playing ever so delicately in the background, light candles, seat everyone in their predetermined locations, hang a towel over little brother’s arm with strict instructions on filling everyones glass with water.  Then it was time to take their orders, which always seemed to magically be what I was fixin’ in the kitchen. Our dinners were special, fancy even, using the pretty glasses, pulling out the cloth napkins.

So it’s no surprise when my social little butterfly decides to don a flowy dress, just because, and walks out of her room greeting me with a chipper, I’m fancy.

And even during the days where our schedule is tight, we try to slip in a little bit of fun and fancy into our day.  So while daddy takes our littles for a quick dip in the pool, mommy saunters in to whip up a tasty poolside lunch… the fancy way.

And no fancy poolside lunch would be complete without the pretty dishes, golden cloth napkins and PB&J flower sandwhiches, courtesy of our handy-dandy cookie cutters. Which we happen to use for much more than cookies.

Throw in some special juice (her name for it, not mine), cookies and a couple of flowers and a simple lunch turns fancy indeed.

I think we should all infuse a little more fancy into our days, because sometimes, a little fancy is all that’s needed to make a busy day an undoubtedly special day.
