In the fall, for some reason I always feel the urge to spend, spend, spend. It could be all of the sweaters and boots that hit stores (or my internet browser, since most of my “shopping” is done at home these days), but this year I’m keeping close tabs on my pocketbook and if any spending is going to happen it will be with savings in mind. So while I’m shopping my own closet first, I still have a list of a few totally crave-able and wearable fall trends for 2014.

If you happen to be like me and fall in love with certain colors, then you’ll understand why I’m so excited that the gray trend is sticking around for another season. While army green and plum are big for this fall, so is gray on gray! So rock all the shades and layer it up. And while you’re at it, let those distressed skinnies out of hiding (for our save version, you may have to do a little distressing yourself). I love that animal print flats are still big for this season, as well as all kinds of flat boots… especially these over the knee styles in leather and suede. Since Florida is a little slow to get the memo for cooler weather, that doesn’t mean we can’t transition into fall style. These boots are great because they can be paired with shorts and dresses while the weather is still warm, and worn with tights and skinny jeans as the weather cools down. With fall temps waiting in the wings, we can’t forget the scarf! This season, I’m going with an oversized, easy to layer scarf in a great print so it will work with anything. While we’re talking accessories, let’s jump on the fall nail color band wagon shall we?! I’ve long been a fan of Essie polishes, and although $8.50 a bottle isn’t necessarily cheap, I think it’s a great deal for the wear and coverage it gives. I’m currently wearing two colors from the new fall line, as well as admiring this gorgeous gray-blue that will go with everything fall.
What’s on your radar for fall 2014 fashion trends?
